gadget sidebar in Vista Home Premium

I accidently uninstalled the 'weather' gadget. How can I re-install it
without doing a 'restore'?

You mean it's gone from the sidebar or gone from the system entirely.
If it's from the sidebar right click and add a gadget.

Go to Start Menu\Programs\Accessories and right-click on Command Prompt.
Choose "Run as Administrator". Then type the command:

sfc /scannow

Press enter on your keyboard.

After the System File Checker scan, which may take awhile, you can confirm
any repairs by looking at the cbs.log (towards the end of the log) in
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.

"To Uninstall A Gadget"...it explains
how to restore Gadgets that have
been uninstalled.

Right click on the side bar area, select properties. Then select "restore
gadgets installed with windows".
