Gadgets Won't Install

When I try to install a gadget I get an error message that it doesn't know
how to handle a .gadget file.
I have tried installing the same gadget on another Vista PC and it installed
fine. Somehow, I lost the ability to install gadgets. Can I fix this
somehow? Thanks.
