MIAMI--Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates on Friday indicated that Windows 7, the
next major version of Windows, could come within the next year, far ahead of
the development schedule previously indicated by the software maker.

In response to a question about Windows Vista, Gates, speaking before the
Inter-American Development Bank here, said: "Sometime in the next year or so
we will have a new version." Referring to Windows 7, the code name for the
next full release of Windows client software, Gates said: "I'm
super-enthused about what it will do in lots of ways."

"Sometime in the next year or so..."

"Or so"...is the operative statement...LOL!
Yeah baby...in the next year or so...hahaha...how many times have we
heard this same statement?
MS has contractual software life cycle agreements with thousands of
companies. IOW's they have a planned schedule for updates and
replacements. If you're with them on these contracts, you have a huge
advantage in price, replacement and help.
But BG really likes to play you and the news media...and you guys fall
for it every time...LOL!

Maybe you should find more links to post about upcoming deliveries. Do a
Google search and see what you can find. I know you have the need to post
links.

Good job

Yep, the quicker they can move on and forget Vista, the better they think
it'll be.

Cheers.

Within the next year? Who are they kidding? Took 'em 5 years to get Vista
out, no way a major revision such as what they're talking about comes out
within a year. Within 3-4 years, maybe.

He probably meant the first beta will be available in a year. I agree that
no way will the finished product be available in a year. They would need
to have had the first beta out 6 months ago for that to happen.

Who cares? Windows has been around since the 80's and still Microsoft
hasn't be able to get all the bugs out. Windows always was and remains
a piece of crap. The more you push it the more obvious that sad fact
becomes. Expecting any future version to approach "good" by any
stretch of the imagination is a pipe dream at best. Microsoft only
knows how to sell software, not write it as their Knowledgebase is
grim testament to.

Who cares? *nix has been around for 35 years and still has bugs. What's
your point?
