GDI & Adobe Photoshop

I installed the GDI update along with office xp service pack 3 last friday.
Now today after opening photoshop 7.0 to undertake some work, i found that
its not usable because of the slow access time. It takes over a minute to
open a graphic or create a new image window. Photoshop 7.0 was working fine
prior to the GDI update. Has anyone experienced this problem??
