Hi,
After installing the GDI detection tool on my Win 98 (2nd Ed.), my Excel
program now freezes my computer upon exiting the program. I get that deadly
white box saying that it's a memory issue, but I have plenty of RAM on my
computer. I tried a number of things to see if there were any errors on my
computer. I tried installing the new Office update and I tried running Virus
scan to see if there was anything wrong there, and nothing has helped. I even
tried defragging my computer. If anyone else has any idea of what I can do,
please respond. My work depends upon this program and it's a real hassle to
restart my computer every time I exit Excel.
I am pretty sure that it was this GDI update that messed it up because it
happened after I did the install. I have read a number of problems relating
to this install, and I don't recall if I had problems with the install or
not. I hesitate to try reinstalling it for fear that I could have additional
problems with other programs. If it helps with the advice, my Excel program
is part of Microsoft Small Bus. Addition and it came on a CD with all the
other programs like Word, Publisher and Outlook. I hesitate to uninstall and
then reinstall because I know I will loose valuable data in my Outlook
program. And, I can't uninstall just the Excel program. I am not having this
problem with other Office programs. And, it doesn't matter which file I've
opened in Excel, it occurs every single time I try to exit Excel.
Thanks for any help you can give to me!
Michelle
