General Vista issues - Side bar, updates, install of adobe photosh

To anyone that can help. I have been researching message boards etc to solve
several problems I've been having. I've also been on the phone for weeks with
MS support and I still have these issues.
My System:
HP Pavilion AMD processor running windows vista home premium
Have MS firewall and McAffee FW

Issues:
1. Trying to install MS updates and the following 5 do not install:

942615
943078
905866
941649
943899

I get the following error codes:
8007002
8007371B

I have uninstalled McAfee and tried the installation...not sucessful
I have deleted history(download and data files) as instructed by microsoft
as the solution...not successful
With the help of MS tech Support we reloaded or installed DLL files

Not sure what else I can do.

2. Last week my windows sidebar gadgets stopped working
They are there..but they don't work and I don't get any error messages

I looked at my FW settings to ensure sidebar.exe is open...allows updates
etc. They also do not indicate "bad gadget" on them.

My guess is I checked the updates that actually worked on my system and see
that on 1/9 the following updates installed: 941644, 943411, and 943302.
943411 is a fix to the sidebar so I bet this is what is causing my issues...I
did not want to uninstall and was hopeful you might have an answer

3. Can't install Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0
It installs but right after I get an MS popup that says "Adobe
photodownloader component 4.0 stopped working....The adobe photoshop icon is
on my desktop..when I click I get a sidebyside config error....Oddly enough I
noticed one of the manifest files it mentions in my backup folder...

I called adobe tech support and was on the phone for about 4 hrs...nothing

4. HP Scanjet---loaded software etc

It does scan but when I try to select options for the scan (HP solution
center), click on scan, then I get an HTML error page...no errors on it...I
checked the drivers and all indications are all is well. Scanner does
work..so whatever!

If you could help me with ANY of the above issues I would be forever in your
debt.

My last resort would be to do a restore for this Tuesday, which would just
help my sidebar issue.Issue 1 with the updates has been open since November...

I had this problem and found that MS were trying to get me to install
one download for Vista 64 bit version when I had 32 bit version. I
think it was 943899. The fact that 943899 would not install was
preventing all the others from installing. I marked this as a "Hidden"
update and then the others did install properly.
