Generic Services with Dependencies on MSDTC and RPC

I've got some services for some third party software that I would like to
cluster on our existing two node cluster. These services are dependent on
MSDTC and RPC. I've got MSDTC clustered already as recommended in the
appropriate kb article. Would it make sense to add these services to the
group that contains MSDTC? Can I cluster RPC? Is there a white paper or kb
on how to do that somewhere? Is there a problem if I cluster RPC and put it
in the same group as MSDTC and the other three services? Does anyone have
any recommendations on how to best cluster these third party services?
Thanks in advance for the help.

You don't mention the OS you're running on your cluster, but you can select
RPC as a service in the Windows Server 2008 High Availability wizard. I
would leave your existing MSDTC group / service configuration alone and not
add additional services to it. Instead, just ensure that you set up your
dependencies on MSDTC properly with the other services that you're
clustering.

Hope this helps,

Ryan:
Thanks for your quick response.
I'm running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise. Can I select RPC as a
service in that OS? Also, I'm not sure what you mean by setting my
dependencies on MSDTC. The only way I could set up MSDTC as a dependency for
my third party services would be to put them in the same group as MSDTC,
wouldn't it?
Thanks again

Hi ebferro,

Yes you can only make dependency's in the same group.
