I'm curious about this too. Reliability Monitor on my system shows that one
or more instances of "Generic volume shadow copy" driver has installed just
about every other day since March 12th, 2008. The count of all those
installs exceeds 30. Before March 12th, instances of "Generic volume shadow
copy" driver installs appear, but much less frequently. Only 15 instances
appear before that date - i.e. between 3/11/2008 and the date Vista was
installed on 4/17/2007. Don't know if they are the cause, but a number of
updates to Office 2007 occured on 3/12/2008 as well as one Windows Vista
Update (KB946041). My system seems to be running fine, but it would be good
to know for sure that this change is benign and what the reason is for it.
