Ok here goes, I have 2 hard disks in my machine (home built)
The newer one is faster (16 meg cache and NCQ) I wanted to run vista from
that disk.
So I installed it and all went swimmingly until I rebooted (I had to
activate over the phone as my previous install was done online) then I got a
message saying (rather annoyingly, may I add, as this is a legal copy bought
by myself) stating "You may be a victim of counterfeiting" I do the
activation process in IE and it comes back as valid and as if to say "Were
sorry we ever doubted you, loyal customer"
BUT THEN it still refuses to run aero and nothing works, reboot, do it again
and still nothing works and still it says Im a victim of counterfeiting.
What do I do?
I dont have a phone anymore to reactivate a clean install, so thats out of
the question, Do I contact MS about this, is this a screwup on their end, or
do I (like a lot of things with MS, it depends on the weather) just need to
keep trying on a cold dark stormy night?
Yours truly, Mark

The only way you *may* get it activated is to phone MS and grovel.

Tired of this crap? Try Ubuntu, www.ubuntu.com, no activation, no
becoming genuine, can be installed on as many computers as you like and
it's FREE. It comes with access to over 25,000 free and commercial
(mostly free) programs. You can run the Live CD to make sure your
hardware is compatible. Either download it and burn it to a CD or order
the CD and they will even pay the postage!

You have NO phone - at all!!!???

How can you survive. What if you need an ambulance or police assistance?

Just pick up the phone and dial the number when it is presented to you. Wait
for a live person.

Then once you're ready to have your applications work again, pop your
Vista DVD back in the drive and you're up and running shortly.

You can activate Vista by performing the following:

1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe 4
2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
3. Select your Country.
4. Follow the instructions for phone activation.
5. Once completed, restart your computer.

The OP hasn't got a phone to be able to grovel to the activation person
so how will they be "up and running shortly"?

There's no activation with Ubuntu. Nobody to call up to ask permission
to use it, Frank. I thought you said you installed it. Lying again?

Alias, not expecting Frank to comprehend.

Tired of your crap? Go lick yourself, go outside and chase parked cars.
Who around here gives a RATS ASS about a TOY OS that only geeks use. The
Open Sores software is a joke, it's GUI is years old, functionality is
marginal at best. It is FREE and the people just shrug their shoulders and
say, "Who cares".
