genuine validation

I have been using windows update for a while now, but today when i try to get
it to update, it says that there is a problem with a validation. I have
windows xp and have had it for 4 years now and have done nothing different.
Please help. Thank you.

Sounds like you have a pirated copy of XP...
only recently did Microsoft give you a warning about it.
According to their website...the warning can be turned off.

I had the same problem with my copy of Xp that i've had since 2002. I did
manage to navigate my way from the validation page to a tool that lets u
manually validate, but damn if i can remember how i did it. But I also
submitted my problem to MS support and they gave me the following link that
fixes the problem.

After completing the fixes it tells u to fix it seems to work fine

I meant to add that the main fix to allow validation seems to be this:

Tools/Internet Options/Security Tab/Internet/Custom Level and scroll down to
"Miscellaneous" and change the "Access data sources across domains" to Prompt.
Once I did that windows validated fine.
