Genuine Windows Validation

I just upgraded my windows 2000 advanced server system to windows server 2003
enterprise edition. After the connecting to the internet i checked
windowsupdate to get the latest updates for my system. When I go to
windowsupdate site, the following message appears after i click for scanning
Genuine Windows Validation

[ Support ID: 0x80244028 ]
To get updates, you must first validate your Windows software. Validation
assures that you are using an authentic and fully licensed copy of Windows.
Then, I clicked continue to validate my system. After scanning for a while
another message appeared which says.
Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validation[0x80080299]

Why did it not validate?
You have encountered an unknown error. Please contact your local product
support team for further assistance with this issue.

I don't know what to do. Also my automatic updates doest not notify me of
available updates although i have set it to notify me but do not download or
install any updates. I will very appreciate your help

Did you have your anti virus program on auto scan when you did this or did
you have it disabled?

When I had windows 2000 advanced server i had both mcafee firewall and mcafee
virus scan installed on my computer.but after upgrade they don't work
anymore. I cannot uninstall them either. But I know that they are not working
anymore.

You receive a "Validation Incomplete: Online Validation Failure" error message
or a "0x80080204" error code when you try to validate Windows XP

The Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation check process
does not complete when you try to validate your copy of Windows XP
or Windows 2000 Professional

I'd just like to say that i encountered this on our Corporate machines..
after trying to install the beta for internet explorer 7. I will not install,
as i cannot get past the validation process.. i get the error [0x80080299] on
the genuine windows page, as someone else posted. Funny thing is, i can
validate manually.. by using the validation tool, but not the online web tool
that this install seems to go do everyday.

I tried all the links you provided, and none of them fixed my problem. Even
to disabling anti virus etc..
Can u suggest anything other than the link u posted, that would explain why
I have his error, and what i can do to fix it.
