get error 80004002 when installing update KB842773

Hello - I just built up a new machine and am trying to patch it -- the first
time I go to the new (v5) windowsupdate site it tells me to download the
update for BITS and WinHTTP. so I do -- and it fails, every single time.
Unfortunately it won't tell me *why* it failed, or what I can do about it --
just that it failed. Does anyone know how to get past this error? The
actual error is:

Installation Failure
Error Code: 80004002

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated -- I can't move ahead
with this new machine until I get this taken care of.

I have exactly same problem on several Win XP SP1 machines in my
environment. update for BITS is failing on almost 50 machines without any
error. I also tried to use v5 of update but no luck.
