I get an error message "A previous installation has pending work .

I have downloaded and also tried the disc to update to IE6. Evevytime I try
to load, I get an error message "A previous installation has pending work
requiring a reboot....." I have rebooted/restarted numerous time with no
results. Any help out there?

I am running MS Windows 2000 5.00w/Service Pack 4

Also, I am running I.E Explorer 6.0.2600

The iisue is that I can no longer to MS Automatic Uodates as like I noted
below whereas it simply keeps telling me of the previous installation and
thus my needing a reboot ......

Was IE6 ever installed on this Win2K SP4 machine and then uninstalled?
