How to get rid of a downloaded update

I use the automatic update feature and it works fine, except for one
update. The update is KB892841. This is an ypdaye to OUTLOOK. I do
not use OUTLOOK, so I never installed it with my OFFICE product. When
this update began to install, it asked for the OFFICE CD presumably to
install OUTLOOK and then update it. I don't want to install OUTLOOK,
so I click cancle, and the install stops, but a few minutes later I
get the "Updates are ready to install" balloon from the icon in trhe
taskbar. I click it up, then uncheck the update and cancel, but it
returns.

I checked Update to find out how to stop, but there doesn''t seem to
be any way to stop one AFTER it has been downloaded. If one can catch
it before downloading, and reject it Update will not try again to
download it.

So what do I do to kill this one still hanging around my taskbar
lurking, waiting to install ?

Is there a box to check that says " Hide this update " when you click
the Cancel button ? That *should* prevent it from being installed again.
You could also attempt to delete it from the WINDOWS\Software
Distribution\Download and WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ folders, if present in both.
The copy in the Download folder will have a different name than
KBKB892841. Poke around in there and see if you can locate and delete it.
Suggest stopping the AU service from with the Services console, show
hidden files, folders, and system files, then delete the cached copy.
Restart the AU service, reboot the system. The update may still be
offered to install, but there will be no local copy to install.
Cancel the installation if offered again. Hide the update.
