How to get rid of Vista bootloader

Friend of mine was having trouble with Vista so decided to reinstall but
ended up putting a new install of Vista on partition D: the Dell
recovery partition. Of course it is a small partition so no drive space
left to install anything else. I went ahead and did the reinstall of
Vista on the C: partition and it is working fine now. But now there is
the boot manager loading since you can select the 2 different installs.
Any way to easily get rid of the boot manager and just have it load the
C: install? Already fully investigated bootrec.exe and bootsect.exe;
they don't seem to do the trick.

I guess it is really not a big deal to just leave it since it does load
the C: install after the 30 second delay. But what happens if I delete
the Vista install on D:? Just curious if there is anyway to remove the
Vista bootloader without totally wiping the hard drive. Also, already
tried renaming bootmgr but just get a warning that it is missing when
starting up and nothing happens after that.
