Since 'updating' to IE* I have had endless hangups. (Running Vista Home
Premium) I regret installing it and will probably restore to IE7. Why is this
happening?

No one can possibly assist you when your entire description of your
problem(s) is "endless hangups."

- To "Tom Willett": the suggestion, announced in OP's end note, was right inside OP's title: "Get it right b4 publishing please!"
- To "Leonard Grey": OP "Impi-go-goldie" didn't ask or expect any help here, he simply *offered* the *suggestion* to *check before publishing*. A suggestion that visibly could be useful to all publishing (from Windows to messages in Newsgroups) and to *all* Microsoft people, from management to staff to all sort of "volunteers" or "aficionados" or "fans" or simple visitors.

Personally I second that Impi-go-goldie's suggestion: I do think Microsoft has much varied in its care to check before publishing, and should recover the level of carefulness, humility, care to others, hard work, that made their success in the ~1975s.

First step should be for MS to STOP barring or hampering feedback (like "volunteers" being given control over the newsgroups and probably other advantages like free software or travels, yet pretending that they don't work for MS or that they have no reach to MS staff or that MS is not monitoring newsgroups).

Second step could be to stop or lessen the overwhelming flow of marketing stances presenting earlier products as "crap" (currently IE6, W2K, WXP, VISTA) and newer as "heaven" (IE8, Win7). Nowadays users can't trust anything about Microsoft, hence finally remain with IE6, W2K or WXP, no matter the amount, authors or nature of buzz to "upgrade".

Michel,

And when you find that people who post to this newsgroup *really* are
volunteers, and they're not paid by Microsoft for any assistance they give
to their fellow users needing help and that their level of feedback to MS is
the same as yours; and MS *really* don't monitor this newsgroup, what then?
Will you apologize, or will you continue to make up more "crap"?

From the OP, "Why is this happening?". Certainly looks like a question to
me, after all it includes a question mark, and has the sentence structure of
a question. Do you not consider this asking for help? Or do you think it was
a rhetorical question?

I'm not expecting any replies - you don't seem to understand what a question
mark is used for, after all.

Yes I should have written « like *some* "volunteers" being given control over... ». However I think it's obvious to all that *many* volunteers (as myself, and may be yourself) are NOT in the same case. Otherwise, please tell me if you don't think that some volunteers (e.g. some MVPs) have more control over the NGs, and may get free software or trips.

Now I think no quibble should distract us all from the issues: MS should IMO 1. recover its former level of verifying its products before shipping (as OP "Impi-go-goldie" suggested right in his title), 2. make sure system messages inside products are accurate (which has become notoriously false nowadays, examples available if necessary), 3. stop hampering feedback, 4. make their marketing speeches more accurate technically.

BTW, sorry for forgetting this reply in my Draft folder - and Merry Christmas to all!
