Get Vista B2 elsewhere then MS and bug reporting

If people have Vista beta 2 and they got it somewhere else then MS, so you
know that would mean like from nntp or whatever, I'm curious as to if MS
cares like for those people to submit bug reports and feedback using the
feedback link and bug reporting tool? I know they don't like how people
download it that way. I'm just wondering about how it's looked upon for
feedback and bug reports in those cases.

Also how can you get on beta team with MS so you can offically test for MS
and give them feedback plus bug reports?

If you received Windows Vista through the regular channels such as MSDN,
Technet or as a Technical Tester you should report bugs using reporting
tool. I don't think they have anyway of identifying you are running a
legitimate copy or not.

One thing that I do like is the ability in Vista to change your product key.
I think this is terrific.

I'd love to find out how to apply to be on beta team or whatever so I would
be able to help offically with the builds and so forth reporting bugs etc.

As far as I know, there are no new testers being accepted.
But you can register here:
http://connect.microsoft.com/

As for unauthorized sources (anything outside of Microsoft)?
Unreliable at best.
While most may be true to original, some may be tampered by the unscrupulous
person distributing unauthorized software.
Without that assurance, bugs are unreliable.
Further, I would question the integrity of anyone who feels the need to get
software from an unauthorized distributor and report bugs or other issues.
What else may they do that may corrupt the data?

Getting it is bad enough, but the potential for corrupting valuable data is
to high.

I wouldn't bother testing or submitting bugs if I got no access to the private
ngs

Well... if you check option 3 on here
http://www.vistabase.co.uk/welcome.php?bugreport - you'll be submitting
feedback and error reporting messages (which are still very important)
without having to type anything out )
It's started automatically on first install - but just check that it's
enabled )

Zack, I've always wondered about in win xp the error reporting tool that
comes up when an app crashes. It sends data back to MS. Do you or anyone
else know what this does as in does MS actually look at these and fix them?
Because many apps can and do crash that aren't made by MS, so I wonder if
they do anything.

Yes they do but they prioritize by how many of each thing they get.
