[X-post to Windows Update, Security, and Security Home Users newsgroups as
an FYI]

<QP>
There seems to be a myth that Microsoft limits security updates to genuine
Windows users.

Let me be clear: all security updates go to all users.

And as long as the Windows version and Service Pack level is still
supported.

Windows Update requires validation, but you can still get security updates from
the download center without it.

Harry.

You can download the updates, but you can't install them.

Pardon ? ***ALL*** security updates shown here [ that have not been
superseded ] are available at the MS Download Center and they *will*
install regardless of 'Genuine' status -

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx

Please show me *one* example of an update listed on the Sec Bulletin
page that will not install due to *the system failing WGA* after being
downloaded from MS Download.
