"Christoph Duesmann",
I do not wish to appear ignorant, and I hope you will forgive me, but this
seems a bit like reinventing the wheel. Microsoft already has a free tool
that can scan your network and identify the patch level of each machine.
The first tools is the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer, which can scan
subnets, not just one machine at a time:

Further, Microsoft has already provided a cost-free tool for deploying
patches you specify across your network. This is Microsoft Software Update
Services or SUS:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...us/susfaq.mspx
I suggest you walk through the demonstration so that you can see what I
mean. Be sure to click on the Starting and Monitoring SUS link in the left
frame, then click on the link in the right frame to view the Exercise:

Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]
