Windows XP SP3

I'm getting an error each time I scan for updates:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

[Error number: 0x8002802B]

I've installed MSBA and it shows I have several updates missing.

Is there a way to circumvent from getting my updates through the windows
update website? Therefore, go to another site and pick those updates I'm
missing?

Thanks!

I'm also running Windows XP SP3 and getting the same error:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

but with no error code.

Please state your IE version.

Is this a sudden, new problem?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

NB: If you're seeing the effects of a hijackware infection, none of the
following will be worthwhile!...

Error message when you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web
site on a Windows XP-based computer: "Windows Update has encountered an
error and cannot display the requested page":
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914226

You receive a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display
the requested page" error message when you try to install an update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883614

How do I reset Windows Update components?:

Graeme,
The error code should be at the upper right hand corner of the webpage.

Graeme,
Check to make sure that the Background Intelligent Transfer service is
started, and make sure it's set to "automatic". I had to do this yesterday,
but never rebooted my PC. After rebooting my PC today, Windows automatic
update had files for me to install.
However, when I go to the windows update and run a scan, I continue to get
the same error.
At least for now I have the latest updates from the last time I was able to
scan for updates.

Hi,
With the help of MS support I had to re-register some dll's and that fixed
my issue. You may want to try this as well.
Click START|RUN and enter each dll to register. You'll get a message that
the registration succeeded. (created a .bat file, which made it easier to
register them)

Type --> REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL

REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL

REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL

REGSVR32 WUAUENG1.DLL

REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL

REGSVR32 WUCLTUI.DLL

REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL

REGSVR32 WUWEB.DLL

REGSVR32 QMGR.DLL

REGSVR32 QMGRPRXY.DLL

REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL

Gothica,

Would it be possible for you to post the contents of your .bat file that you
created to do these modifications? Thanks.

The method that you describe below worked for me too. Wow! This has been a
real pain, and the MS Support folks were of no help in my case - with many
back-and-forth, unproductive email exchanges. But I am extremely pleased and
relieved that it's finally resolved thanks to your advice.

I will forward this information to the MS Support person I've been dealing
with, so perhaps others can get some help too.
