Hi, new to this forum, but couldn't help but reply to this issue. The i
for HP SYSTEMS but could apply to others
I too had this issue, and YES, this second is VERY IMPORTANT
regardless of the previous rather callous post. Should this issue no
get corrected, eventually it will cause a rapid flip of black screen
... then the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH
HP's forums have many posts about this issue (and has even extended th
warranty on those systems with AMD chips, but not Intel)
The issue is one of clashing drivers & HP's rather erratic Driver
Support website. There is an issue where either the website OR th
"Health Check" reports BIOS & Chipset updates for Intel systems with AM
driver updates
After threatening to return my laptop, I was transferred to a Level
Tech, whereby he authorized the generic Intel ('Laptop, Notebook
Desktop, Server and Embedded Processor Technology - Intel
(
http://www.intel.com)) driver fix for this issue. IF YOUR SYSTEM I
UNDER WARRANTY, GET THE AUTHORIZATION SPECIFICALLY SAYING "THI
AUTHORIZATION WILL NOT VOID OR LIMIT ANY EXISTING/REMAINING WARRANTY" B
EMAIL FOR YOUR RECORDS, and make sure it has the techs name
city/country and supervisor's name!!! As this fix is not on HP's Suppor
site
Also, before you download any updates, google the driver version to se
if it is meant to work with your system chips
This issue started from the moment I originally turned it on. Come t
find out I had an AMD BIOS version (which has been fixed) and the H
Techs have no idea where this comes from, and of course blame th
customer, as if I just liked the sound of that BIOS version an
installed it. The same can be said regarding the Intel Chipset drive
update. My system came with a version not on the website, which is
generations old
My advise is demand a more advanced tech (Level 2), as the Level 1'
are nothing but script drones, and will have you reinstalling your O
before you know it, slick as grease, because they don't know how to fi
it. (BTW - reinstalling the OS from recovery disks will only place th
system back to factory specs, and when you do the requisite MS & H
updates, your right back in the same place
This has been my experience with HP and this IGFX error. The generi
driver fix on Intel's website fixed the issue, along with the correc
BIOS
Good Luc
