I'm using Tbird. I filtered all addresses related to this ... let's say
.... person but to no avail. since it is a newsgroup messages can't be
deleted.

AFAIK, some newsreaders let you delete messages. That is done only
locally, of course, but it does get them out of your eyes :-)
I just checked. This reader, 40tude Dialog, will delete messages. It
will also mark messages to ignore, already read, and other things. I
don't make much use - and certainly not full use - of the capabilities,
so there might be a lot more here than meets my eye.
