I have Vista Home Premium.

I can't seem to check my disk for errors. (Scan Disk)

I've followed the instructions: C/Properties/Tools/Error-checking/Check Now

I get the message:
Windows can't check the disk while it's in use
Do you want to check for hard disk errors the next time you start your
computer?
Schedule disk check
After I click Schedule disk check I'm back at the C/Properties/Tools.
Nothing happens.

When I had my old 98se I could just click on Scan Disk.

Any idea how I can get scan disk to work?

Well, have you rebooted yet?

Chkdsk works much better when Windows is not running. It is trying to tell
you this. Chkdsk will run before Windows loads next time you reboot. It does
not take long..

Charlie42 and Mike

Sorry it took so long for me to reply. Thanks for your answer and of course
you were right. After I clicked on "Schedule Disk Check", I kept waiting for
some type of schedule to come up so I could schedule it, lol!

Anyway thanks for replying and I'm scan disking away
