My downloads folder icon, on the desktop has become transparent,
with a large "down arrow" at its right-hand edge.
I don't see anything unusual in the folder, and I can find no explanation
for this appearance!
I thought it might mean that a file in the folder was ready to be written
out to a CD or DVD, but there is no indication of that.
Is this an indication that Vista Home Premium doesn't like my downloads???
Is it telling me to follow the arrow beyond the river Styx???
My inquiring mind needs to know!
Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

The icon lives inside

C:\Windows\system32\imageres.dll

So you could try reapplying the icon to the folder

Assuming it's a shortcut, Right-click > Properties > Change Icon

Thanks John. I did change the icon, but the "ghost" has returned
What I really want to know, is what that particular icon represents
I've attached a copy of the image

If that advice didn't help you can edit imageres.dll with help of tools such
as Resource Hack, here is a tutorial to do it:

Jon (& others);

I got rid of the icon by right-clicking the icon, archiving it, then
deleting the archive!
It has not returned...
