Well I'm going back to MSN Messenger 7.0 until the bugs are worked out of
the LIVE versions. I'll copy and paste one of the responses that someone
received from an admin here.

As a workaround for the time being, you can use the updated version of MSN
Messenger 7.0.

To do so, download from here:
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...4-9505f47bed45

Then you'll need to engage compatibility mode so it doesn't force you to
upgrade. To do so,
go to the \Program files\MSN Messenger folder, right click on the
msnmsgr.exe file, choose
Properties, then the Compatibility tab, choose Windows 2000, click OK and
then run Messenger
as per normal.

I've done this and everything works great again.

Yeah it works fine to you but if you happen to read all the problems people
are having with the forced upgrade then you might realize it's not just me
having the issues. It's not just here but also
microsoft.public.msn.messenger newsgroup also. According to microsoft 1/4 -
1/3 of the people who were forced to upgrade are having issues and I fall
into that category. I'd expect 8.5 to have the bugs because it's a beta
version. I just wish 8.1 would have a better customer support base being
that none of my questions are being answered here in the newsgroups.
