Manual sleep function works fine, but when I leave the computer alone it
won't go to sleep. Energy settings are set to standard, no wireless devices
connected.

Any ideas?

After some more trial and error tests, I discovered that the reason why the
computer won't go into sleep is an option in the advanced section under
"multimedia settings" (the last one in the list on my pc). There you have
three options (all roughly translated from my dutch vista version):

- Sleep can be activated
- Don't activate sleep after an inactive period
- Absent mode can be activated

Does anyone have any idea what this last options does/should do? All I know
is that it behaves just like the second option, i.e. it prevents my computer
from going to sleep automatically..

The last mode is for "Away mode" this basically just locks the machine and
keeps it powered on.
