I find exactly the same thing with both my desktop and my laptop (both
running XP Home SP2).
I don't know if the automatic update would complete if I gave it long
enough or not; this morning it had downloaded one of the two XP updates
after about an hour, at which point I ran Microsoft Update in my
browser and it quickly retrieved the second update and installed both.
Odd.
