There are so many people having problems when trying to update I
thought I'd pass along some good news.

I've been monitoring two XP help NGs and this one for a few months.

From my notes, I cleaned my system of temp files, turned off my AV, set
a restore point, selected and DL'd 40 security updates. Installed them
all without a hitch. Decided I don't want the Malware Removal Tool, or
Explorer 7. The .net 1.1 would not install, which suits me. I have no
use for it so marked it hide in the future.

Your assistance to others gave me the assurance to update for the
first time ever. I ran Win3.1 and Win98SE for many years with just
safehex practices as I did think I could trust updates to not wreck
my computer.

Didn't happen to my XPSP2. I'm off to do the same for my wife's XP.

Thanks again,

BoB
