GOOGLE TOOLBAR PAGE STUCK

I have a several month old Dell laptop with Vista, not SP1. Yesterday I
came up with a page from Google Toolbar which says "This program cannot
display the webpage". This happens on boot- no browser or anything else
open. I cannot close this page. I cannot find anyplace in Control
Panel to remove Google Toolbar. I tried a system restore back to 5-1
but the page is still there.

I use both Firefox and IE7, but no Google toolbar, as far as I know.

Any suggestions?

Many software programs include the Google Toolbar as part of the
installation. The only way to avoid this is to do a Custom install of the
software and uncheck the Google Toolbar prior to installation.
You may wish to check IE and see if the Google Toolbar is listed as an
add-on. If so, you can remove it. If you can't remove it you can to to
Internet Options, Advanced tab and click on the Reset button.

Thanks, tried that, but didn't help. Toolbar is not listed anywhere I
can find. Reset had no effect on that page coming up on boot.

Try installing it (download from Google) and then uninstalling it. If you
still get the prompt after using Programs & Features to uninstall it (and I
don't suggest leaving it installed since it can cause issues with IE7) then
possibly this is the Dell Google EULA. Manage it from your Startup matrix
then:

Start Orb>Start Search box>msconfig [enter]

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation,
type the password, or click Continue. Then see what is on the Startup tab.
You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll get
a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Usually in Vista this will be
blocked by Windows Defender and you'll need to allow it so you can then
tick the box that says in effect, "don't bother me about this again".

Important - Do not use the System Configuration Utility to stop processes.
Instead, use Start>Run>services.msc [enter] and do not stop any services
unless you really, really know what you're doing.

The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup -
