Did you try the "Manage Search Provider" option? When I try, I see two
search providers listed: Bing and Copernic. I got the Copernic provider
along with the Copernic Desktop Search application. There is a link near the
bottom of the "Manage Search Provider" menu. The link takes you to a web
page with a number of additional search provides which can be added. I see
Google listed, but not Yahoo!.

Here is some help:

I just went through the instructions, and successfully added Yahoo! to my
search provider list. It is now: Bing, Copernic, Yahoo!.

No. I originally had Bing and Copernic. I know have Yahoo!, as well.

Just follow the steps for "Create your own Search Provider", if you want to
add Yahoo!. (Google is in the list, Yahoo! is not.)

FYI, to get to the search page, use, 'http://search.yahoo.com/'. Take it
from there as you follow the directions at that link.

I think I am giving up. I can't do anything except use my bookmarks to
navigate around the internet. I regret ever downloading IE8 a few days ago
because I've had nothing but trouble since. I was doing fine on IE7 but
wanted to upgrade for a 'more secure and faster' browser. I have tried so
many things now that I don't know what I've done. My perfectly working
computer is hosed. I also loaded Google Chrome and has the same
problem--blank pages when I tried my search engines. I can't even add one
now although it shows me the page to add search engines, I go thru the
process and it doesn't show up. I've reset stuff, I've tried to restore to
an earlier date (didn't work). I might go back and uninstall all the
Microsoft updates I downloaded on 15 Dec....
Thanks for the suggestions here...appreciate the responses.

Well, I really can't suggest more than I have. I am reasonably certain that
I only had the Bing search engine in IE8; until I installed the Copernic
desktop search agent. Copernic is configurable, and I used the configuration
menus to add it to IE8, so I never gave it much more thought.

The requests for help in this thread sent me to play with MSIE. I was
successfully able to add Yahoo! through the link in the search provider
management window. That was the trickier of the two because Yahoo! is not
listed among the providers available to add; Google is listed.

Nothing about the installation of MSIE 8 should "hose" your computer. You
may have issues with ill-behaved add-ons. Remove all add-ons first, then try
to uninstall.

That's blank all right. How are you getting it? Running Fiddler2
to trace both the requests and the responses may give some more clues.

Good luck

Thanks Norman. I reset IE8 yesterday and Bing came back. I tried briefly to
add Google and still get the blank page. But at least I have a search engine
working again. I've stepped away from the computer for a day or 2 :-) and
will retry, launching without add ons, to get my other search engines back.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions everyone.
