I posted 3 different postings about my computer crashing and rebooting while
trying to install SP2. I explained exactly what had occurred and requested
anyone to provide me with assistance. And I got absolutely no response from
anyone in the Newsgroups. What a waste of time and how utterly useless this
service is.
By comparison, I posted the same (verbatim) posting at CNET's Windows XP
forum at help.com and within a few hours received many good suggestions about
how to work through the install issues.
Consequently, I suggest that anyone who needs help first go to CNET or some
other online tech bulletin board or discussion group. You're wasting your
time with Newsgroups if you need real substantive troubleshooting assistance.
The lesson I learned: This Newsgroups service is almost totally useless
(not the first time I've had this happen when I tried to find some help in
Newsgroups).
