I have Win2k, WinXP, and Win2003 computers.

I have configured a GPO for windows updates and applied it the the OU.
When I look at the clients registry, it appears that the have recieved
the GPO but they are not following the GPO.

What I want is for windows updates to be installed at night with no
user intervention, option 4 when configuring windows updates. All the
computers seem to get this option, as I can see in their registry, BUT
when I push out the updates they immidiately go to the computers and
prompt the user to install them. Although, on windows 2k machines the
GPO seems to be working and the updates are applied in the evening at
the specified time...Does this have something to do with SP2 on WinXP??
In my GPO editor, it says "Supported on Win2003, WinXPSP1,
Win2000SP3". Does this mean that it is not supported on SP2??

Anyone have any thoughts??

Thanks,

Joe

Hi,

Could you please check you settings and the type of install options that are
selected. You may also wish to read the following:

Thank you

I have checked and rechecked my settings...They are all correct. And I
know that they are working somewhat because on the local machine, if I
go to automatic updates, automatic is dimmed because of the GPO
settings..BUT the updates still come directly to the machine and asked
to be installed...Can I disable something on the local client so that
the sheild is never shown?? Maybe disable the security center service??
