I'm running a 2-node 2003 SP2 MSCS and have a need to start using GPT disks
to accomadate the >2Tb limitation. I saw that there was a hotfix to allow
this on systems running MSCS but, other than that, are there any other
constraints?

I played around with this and presented two lun's to one of the nodes and
saw that the option within Disk Manager 'convert to GPT' was grayed out.
Additionally, the diskpart command 'convert gpt ' returned an error.

Perhaps the error will disappear after the hotfix is applied? Or is there
something else I'm missing.

Hi gscanga,

With your Windows 2003 SP2 you can not use dynamic disks, spanned volumes.
basic disks are supported.
and if you want to change a disk you can oly change it with diskpart.

There is a KB that maybe usefull.

1) install KB 919117 on both nodes
2) present clean LUNS to your clsuter (no data, no partitions, nothnig)
3) create GPT partition & format
4) add as cluster resources

that should do it

rgds,
edwin.

I agree with Edwin here...specifically, you must ensure that there are no
existing partitions on the drive before "converting" from MBR to GPT. You
cannot convert an existing MBR partition to a GPT partition...you can only
convert an empty disk to GPT

John
