If you are a licensed user of Windows Vista Ultimate, you should be able to
obtain the Greece Language Pack by opening the Windows Update explorer >
View Updates > check off the language pack and click install.

Once it has been downloaded, In Control Panel go to > Regional and Language
Options
Keyboards and Languages > Display Laguage > Install/uninstall languages

Gruess Gott, Meinolf

That is correct. However, there is no need to install a Greek MUI onto
Vista, just to use Greek fonts and keyboard. Every edition of Vista (Home,
Business, Ultimate) has all the fonts and NLS support already built-in, to
enable Greek text input (oder Deutsch, Chinesisch, usw :-)

Poster "speed demon" has given the right answer for the OP.

Apologies for being pedeantic :-) but I see a lot of misinformation in this
newsgroup about language packs. MUIs are *not* necessary to work in other
languages and scripts; nor is Vista Ultimate required to work in multiple
languages and scripts.

Mit fruendliche Gruessen,

Hi Andre,

I respectfully disagree. It is not necessary to install the Greek MUI, just
to use a Greek Keyboard and fonts in Windows. In fact the font and NLS files
are already there, and installed in every edition of Vista (Home, Business
Ultimate) even without the MUI. All you need to do is go into Control Panel,
Regional and Language Options, Keyboards and Languages, and hit the "Change
keyboards" button. Then select Greek from te list; and probably, enable the
Language Bar too so you can switch back and forth.

The Greek MUI is only useful for making Windows display its own resources
(such as menus, icon labels, dialogue boxes etc) in Greek language. But the
MUI is not required to work with Greek langauge data (this is the same with
all the other MUIs as well - they only affect the Windows user interface;
not the languages that can be used or displayed by applications).

Poster "speed demon" has given the correct answer to the OP.

Pardon me for being pedantic :-); but, I see a lot of misunderstandings and
incorrect info in this newsgroup about langauges on Vista (admittedly,
Microsoft did not make it easy with their overly-complex approach to MUIs
etc).

Warm regards,

A translation for google groups and anyone who may be interested.

if you want only to write with greek characters then many of the fonts
support greek and other languages,
like aria, verdana, times new roman.

What you need to do is install the greek keyboard, and you will do that from
:

Start> control Panel> Regional and Language Options> Keyboards and
languages[tab]>change keyboard [button]> add [button]

Then you will have a language bar on the taskbar and you will be able to
switch between languages with alt+shift

I have the same problem. BUT: Even if I did this, when I run programms in
greek instead of greek letters I just see many questionmarks and weird
letters.
