I've got a security patch that doesn't install right.
Every shutdown it wants to install again, and again, and again....
well, you get the idea.

Wow. I have to alert Microsoft for this issue. You mean you are having trouble
installing Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 does not update. Jeepers. You have a real bad
problem and I do not envy you at all

Read the following for a possible solution

How to troubleshoot Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are
repeatedly offered an update:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910339

1. See the "Need more help? Tell us what problem you are having" section of
http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527

2. You cannot install some updates or programs

3a. Check your WindowsUpdate.log (%windir%\WindowsUpdate.log) for errors
associated with the download/install.

3b. Compare errors to those listed here:

Thanks but here's my new policy for things a beginner can't do:

Thanks, but I don't have the time or expertise to do this well.
It is **** to ask the beginning user to do this.
I will wait for the next patch I guess.
M$ asks for a lot of money you know.
The least they can do is fix their own damn code.
