If we add a Vista machine into a domain that is run by Windows 2000 domain
controllers, what adjustments are required to group policy? Would it be
identical to the changes needed to support Windows 2003 member servers in
such cases, or are there additional requirements?
We found out the hard way that with Windows 2003 member servers in a Windows
2000 domain that you need to separate the W2K3 servers into a separate OU
that has some group policy changes to support Network Service and Local
Service user accounts for running certain Windows 2003 services correctly
(e.g., RPC). We have that working really well now, but I don't want to
assume that Vista requires the same changes to the same group policy
settings.
