Hang at shutting down screen

Since the last updates, two of my machines hang at "Windows is shutting
down" screen. I think Microsoft needs to fix that.

This is a problem created by MS. I made a clean install of XP Home on an HP Laptop. Installed XP SP2 from a cd and then the updates from the windows website. Then installed and updated McAfee AntiVirus and installed the latest Zonelabs Firewall (free version V7). Then the XP home MS update had 2 more updates I allowed them to be applied and the computer was going to restart...Then the problem begins .it never restarted. Now it will not close without a forced close by holding the power button down. It just stops and hangs at the Windows is shutting down screen. Ctrl+Alt+Del is useless... The Pc was working great until the MS update ..This has happened on 2 occasions I am fedup with trying to fix this!! MS please look into this and offer some help.. the update was the problem as it was working fine and the install was totally clean...
