Are you synchronizing your Calendar and Contacts with your PC or with
Exchange?
I ask because the most common cause of this is synching a large number of
calendar entries and contacts when synchronizing with your PC. If you are
syncing with Exchange for these however, this is a moot point.
Verify that your device is plugged into a USB 2.0 port on your PC (not a
hub). This can impact performance as well. Also, it could be something
with the actual partnership in ActiveSync. You could delete it and
re-establish it and see if that helps things along (although the first sync
will still be long the first time).
