Then your best solution is to take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop. Don't take it to a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad
place. Get recommendations from family, friends, colleagues for someone
they like and trust. You are looking for someone who does data recovery.
I could give you the links to data recovery software but, based on your
posts, I don't suggest you try it. I do not mean this to hurt your
feelings in any way but successful data retrieval requires a fair amount
of skill.

In the meantime, DO NOTHING FURTHER ON THE MACHINE. Every time you use
it, you take the chance of overwriting your lost files. When this is
over, purchase an external hard drive and some software such as Acronis
True Image (does imaging and incremental backup) or Second Copy (does
backup and no imaging) and learn to back up your files. The computer
professional can do all this for you and teach you how to safeguard your
data.

You can have your pictures back try using Stellar Phoenix File
Recovery Software. This data recovery software recognizes and restores
over 300 file types. This includes word processor, document,
spreadsheet, graphic, internet, multimedia, source code, pictures and
many such file formats.
Download the demo to try the software: http://www.stellarinfo.com/file-recovery-software.htm
