I am not seeing the "all users" profile in Visata that was always in XP. Were
did it go? Or, where do I put shortcuts I want to show up on all desktops?

Thanks,

Kerry

Kerry

All Users is now the Program Data folder, located at C:\Program Data.

User accounts are stored under C:\Users. Look in the Public account for
Public Desktop.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that Program Data is a hidden folder. Click
the Organize drop down menu and select Folder and search options/View Tab.
Slect to show Hidden Files and Folders there. You will need to exit and then
restart Windows Explorer to see the change.

Hello,
Parts of All Users exist at c:\programdata and parts exist at
c:\users\public.
Open an elevated cmd prompt.
change directory to c:\users and run dir /a.
This will show the folders as well as the junction points and Symbolic
Links. This shows a symbolic link for All Users pointing to c:\programdata
Example:
Directory of C:\Users
05/01/2007 03:10 PM <DIR> .
05/01/2007 03:10 PM <DIR> ..
>11/02/2006 06:01 AM <SYMLINKD> All Users [C:\ProgramData]

04/27/2007 03:00 PM <DIR> darrell
03/10/2007 04:00 AM <DIR> Default
11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Default User [C:\Users\Default]
11/02/2006 05:51 AM 174 desktop.ini
03/10/2007 04:00 AM <DIR> Public

Now go to c:\programdata
You will see Junction Points pointing back to c:\users\public for certain
locations
Directory of C:\ProgramData

05/03/2007 10:00 AM <DIR> .
05/03/2007 10:00 AM <DIR> ..
11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Application Data [C:\ProgramData]
>11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Desktop [C:\Users\Public\Desktop]
>11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Documents

[C:\Users\Public\Documents]
>11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Favorites

[C:\Users\Public\Favorites]
03/10/2007 04:00 AM <DIR> Microsoft
04/11/2007 03:01 AM <DIR> Microsoft Help
05/01/2007 07:41 PM 156,447 ntuser.pol
11/02/2006 06:01 AM <JUNCTION> Start Menu
[C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu]
