Since you allow a 3 year old to "play" and "explore" on your laptop, you
should expect problems. At this point, your daughter may have mucked up your
OS beyond just misplacing the Favorites folder. The best advice: To maintain
stability of your OS and computer, get your daughter a computer of her own
and don't allow others on yours.
