What happened to the 'What u hear' recording setting?

I installed the latest windows live messenger recently and i noticed that i
my 'What u hear' recording setting has gone..

I used to use it alot with my friends and now i cant use it anymore...

Is there anyway to get it back ?

Not really. You could use something like Virtual Audio Cable (which isn't free) to send
audio in this way but it's probably not worth the effort. The easiest thing is to simply
downgrade to the previous version if you found this functionality useful.

I haven't yet found a technical reason why this doesn't show up however.
