Hi there,

My laptop IBM R50 hard drive started giving problem.
Suddenly partition table is automatically deleted and my data is lost. I
tried recovering using Stellar Phonix but all efforts are gone in vain.

Pls suggest, what reliable software should I use to recover it.

Thanks in advance
Best Regard

Sanjay

Frankly, if the data is that important, there is no consumer-grade tool I'd
recommend using to recover it. I'd have a professional service recover it.
Any tool that starts writing to the disc may well doom the rest of the data
on the disc and make it unrecoverable.

Hi,

You could try mbrwork from terabyteunlimited.com (in the freeware section)
to recover the partitions, but I would be cautious with writing to the
drive. My approach would be to slave the drive and image it, then attempt to
recover data.

I had a MFT failure on a partition and could not access it.

The only thing that I found that helped was GetDataBack. It got all my
files back, although some directory and file names were lost due to the
drive failure. There is a free trial that will show whether it will work
for you or not.

If your drive is physically in a good state then you can try to rebuild a
partition table using freeware program Testdisk http://www.cgsecurity.org/ .
If only one partition is missing or you get a message "the partition is not
formatted", then you can try to recover a spare copy of bootsector of that
partition, or rebuild it from scratch.
