Hard disk error! HELP

Hi,
can someone help
all of a sudden i am getting the error box appear saying
' there is no disk in the drive.please insert a disk into
drive\Device\Harddisk2\DR4

with cancel ,try again and continue below.
this happens when i try to start some programs( which had been fine) that
are installed on the PC.
Any idea's.. I can keep clicking on the top corner 'x' and it eventually
goes away

Did make changes on the pc like a new drive, add a removable media ( zip
drive etc.)?. Some programs will react this way if they where install prior
to a change as they try to find their default drive letter.
