Can someone tell me why there are no extended partitions anymore with Vista?
Now I see only Primary partions. What effect does this have if you use XP
partioned slices with Vista?

By default only four primary partitions can be created on the hard drive,
therefore, when you create partitions on Vista your first partition will
automatically be primary, so will your second, third and fourth. However,
when you create a fifth partition this will change to extended (Logical).
That's how my hard drive is currently set out:

This is do weird, as I am learned that I should use normally just one
primary and the rest as extended...

In previous versions of Windows you could choose whether you wanted to
create a primary partition or an extended partition. However, in Vista this
is not the case, Vista will create primary partitions until all primary
allocation have been used up; only then will it change to extended.

Strangely, though, I have four primary partitions and an extended partition.
Now if I delete the last primary partition and then create a new one then it
automatically creates another 'extended' partition.
