::I recently acquired a ::
::Kingwin JET AL Enclosure eSATA 1Touch Backup Black:::: and ::WD
Caviar 500GB Serial ATA HD 7200/16MB/SATA-3G
::It was not recognised by my vista 64 so I NTFS formatted it on my
::::laptop's xp.::

It was recognised on the xp and works fine. It was recognised for an
instant on the vista and I actually transfered a file from the vista but
afterwards it never showed up even after repeat formatting.

I was wondering if someone could help me out as googling this problem
only confused me more. My system specs just in case are:

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6000)
(6000.vista_gdr.071023-1545)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: System manufacturer
System Model: System Product Name
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6320 @ 1.86GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.9GHz
Memory: 4094MB RAM
Page File: 2333MB used, 6005MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 10
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 6.00.6000.16386 64bit Unicode

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Maxtor one touch drives were a problem during the Vista TechBeta but I
stopped following the problem about a year ago. If the Kingwin is a Maxtor
One Touch derivative then you may need a firmware update for the enclosure.

If it's a bug it's a bug. But if it's not, I'd check the serial cable. Some
of the newer ones clip in, but all the first generation cables easily slide
off and lose their connection. Check that. Make sure the serial cable is
securely seated. Same with power cable, especially if it's a serial power
cable. Both ends!

Take a look into Diskmanager and se
if it is there. If it is, name it.
This often cure an alike problem at least with internal
harddisk drives.
