Running Vista Home Prem 32bit SP1. Questions;

* What is the largest Hard drive Size my OS will support? I have considered
getting a 1.5 Terebyte Internal SATA drive....

* Came across several articles regarding speeding up Hard drive Performance.
To do so, open Device Mgr, go to Hard drive's "Properties" click on
"Policies" Tab, place check Mark in "Enable write caching on the Disk" &
"Enable advanced performance". I have 2 Internal hard drives. When I open
the Properites on my C:\ drive...it reads "This device does not allow its
write cache settings to be Modified"....Why??????
The 2nd Internal Hard drive will allow these changes....Why??????

The question isn't what is the largest HD the OS will support..but what is
the largest HD your mobo controllers
will support. A HD can always be partitioned to the maximum size an
operating system can support.Vista will see and support 1.5TB
drives.
Write caching on the primary system drive is discouraged due to the fact
that it "caches" whatever your working on,whatever
system files are working on..and if you shut down before the write is
completed you have lost it....
As I understand it...it sits in cache until there is a spare time frame to
write to disk.

Thanks; Hmmmm....I wonder if you connect a battery Packup....if Vista would
see that...and allow the primary system drive to be modified. The articles I
read did suggest that your system be connected to Power Bckup device.

.....What is Mobo Controller...how would I determine how large a drive it will
support?

Motherboard Controler eg sata/ide etc
Also dependent on the Bios
See your motherboard manual or site for info

mobo = MOtherBOard. Not to be confused with mofo.

Find our who makes your motherboard. Google the motherboard brand/model to
look at the detailed specs. You can also find out by getting into your BIOS
with the 1.5TB drive plugged in. If your BIOS shows the correct size, you're
good to go.

A power backup device is for NO power to the outlet..no power to the
house/apartment.
the battery takes over
long enough for you to save your work and shut down.
