Sitting at the PC I notice my hard drive is reading for a second ever
second for as long a 30minutes at times. grunt/grunt/grunt.

It's a WD 750GB green unit. I have lookied into task manager to se
what it is with no avail.

Just curious

This could be due to Vista's indexing. However, does the drive sound normal?
If not it maybe the drive that is at fault. I would certainly visit Western
Digital's website and download their disk diagnostics tool and check your
hard drive.

Hi,

Indexing or defragging are the most likely suspects. Both of these services
occur when the system is on but is either not in use, or in low-level use.
