Hardware failure - restore

Hi,

We have several windows2000 servers on different old hardware platforms.
(Hp, Dell, ...) But if a machine fails (for whatever reason) and we need a
new hardware server that is not the same hardware, is there a way to restore
my data AND my applications without the need to re-install everything. A
hardware independent backup...

I was wondering how to do this?

Data is easy. just back it up.
Applications require restoring registry entries, shortcut, etc...
You could export these objects and back them up with data.
