Hardware for a lab

I would like to start testing the clustering functionality in WIndows 2008.
Is there anyway to setup a poor man's san somehow without having to purchase
high end hardware?

You don't necessarily need a SAN. The way I did this when I set up a
Server 2008 SCC lab was use Starwind which is iscsi server software
that'll let you create shared disks out of a file. This would be
cheaper than real shared storage and will work fine for a lab. Or you
can install something like Netapp Simulator and use that. I've actually

Or if you plan on using CCR, that just uses local storage so you can use
VM storage for that. It's actually what I'm doing on my Hyper-V home
lab.

Hello Bad,

Use the free 2008 Hyper-V version and run all you like to test as VM's:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

A full running Virtual server where you can test what you like. Requires
64bit hardware.
